rtCamp is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to join our growing design team. This is a role for a seasoned, self-directed designer who brings both craft and strategic thinking to their work. You'll own the design process end-to-end across complex client projects and digital products. This includes leading research, shaping design systems, facilitating stakeholder conversations, and mentoring the designers around you. You won't just execute; you'll anticipate problems, define direction, and raise the bar for design quality across every project you touch.
At this level, you'll be a trusted voice in client relationships, comfortable navigating both the technical and consultative sides of a conversation solo. You'll contribute to how rtCamp's design practice evolves by setting component standards, driving research strategy for product areas, and actively growing the capabilities of junior and mid-level teammates. Whether you're running a user research study, leading a design review, or navigating a nuanced client conversation, you bring ownership, rigor, and strategic awareness to the work.
Responsibilities
- Own design quality and drive outcomes for assigned projects from discovery through delivery, taking full accountability for the user experience on your product surface.
- Identify UX risks across your own work and your teammates' surfacing issues early and addressing them with sound design judgment before they affect delivery or client outcomes.
- Independently plan, facilitate, and synthesize user research studies, translating findings into clear, actionable design direction; own the research strategy for your product area.
- Design scalable UX solutions across full product surfaces and, at a senior level, across multiple products simultaneously balancing depth of craft with breadth of systems thinking.
- Own specific design-system components end-to-end, including creation, documentation, and governance; contribute to setting component standards that the broader team relies on across multiple projects.
- Lead design reviews and enforce design best practices, maintaining high standards for the work that ships under your name and your team's.
- Estimate your own design tasks with accuracy, and collaborate with teammates and project leads on project-level scoping, providing well-informed input on effort and timelines.
- Handle client conversations independently facilitating both technical and consultative discussions with existing clients, and helping prepare for and lead conversations with prospective clients.
- Mentor junior and mid-level designers through structured feedback, design critique, and active investment in the growth and quality of those around you.
- Serve as a Design Lead on projects when needed delegating tasks across designer levels within a project, ensuring continuity, and maintaining overall design quality.
- Proactively identify value-focused opportunities and assign them appropriately, looking for ways to improve both the design process and the business offering for clients.
- Align every design decision with client and business goals, demonstrating a clear understanding of how design output affects project success and client satisfaction.
Must Haves
- 5+ years of professional UX/UI design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating complex, production-level work across varied product surfaces and client contexts.
- Proven ability to independently plan and conduct user research including interviews, usability testing, and synthesis, and translate insights into clear design strategy and direction.
- Deep proficiency in Figma and the broader design toolchain, including prototyping, handoff documentation, and design specifications for engineering.
- Strong systems thinking with hands-on experience contributing to or building design systems, including component governance, documentation practices, and cross-project standards.
- The communication skills to facilitate both technical and consultative client conversations independently—presenting clearly, explaining rationale, and adapting to your audience.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring designers and contributing to the growth and quality of a design team, including through critique, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
- A clear understanding of business goals and the ability to connect design decisions to project and client outcomes, framing design work in terms of value and impact.
- Ability to estimate your own work accurately and collaborate on project-level scoping with an informed intuition for effort and complexity.
