If you love turning messy business problems into ERPNext and Frappe setups that people actually use, read on. You'll join our Frappe team as a senior consultant and work across our internal ERP, client projects, and our own SaaS products, side by side with developers, internal teams, and clients.
Some context: we run rtCamp itself on ERPNext. HR, payroll, accounting, projects, hiring, CRM and helpdesk all live there. We also implement ERPNext and Frappe apps for clients, and we build SaaS products on Frappe, like GoDAM and EasyEngine.
AI has changed this job. A report or workflow that used to take days now takes an hour. So the hard part isn't building anymore. It's knowing what to build, saying no to what shouldn't be built, and making sure what goes live is right and actually gets used. If that sounds like you, we'd love to talk. You'll use AI every day, not just to work faster, but to think, decide and deliver faster.
Key Responsibilities
- You'll find the real problem first. Requests come to you half-formed: a Slack message, an email, a quick call, a client wishlist. It's tempting to build exactly what was asked, even when it's the wrong thing. You'll dig in, figure out what's really needed, and write it down so clearly that nobody has to ask again.
- You'll keep customization in check. When building is cheap, every request becomes a patch, and the next upgrade breaks things. You'll reach for a standard feature first, then configuration, then a process change. Custom work comes last, and only when you can justify it. When a request doesn't need custom work, you'll help the person asking see a simpler way.
- You'll decide quickly. You won't let requests sit for weeks. You'll say yes, no or not now, with a clear reason. Building is fast, but checking takes time, so you decide early.
- You'll improve our internal ERP. A lot of our work still lives in spreadsheets, email and chat. You'll spot what belongs in ERPNext, move it there, and stick with it until teams stop using the old way.
- You'll deliver for clients. You'll run discovery, demos, UAT, training and go-live. In pre-sales, you'll keep scope and estimates honest. We'd rather you promise less and deliver all of it.
- You'll make sure people use what you ship. A feature nobody uses is wasted work. You'll train users, write short guides and follow up until the old way is gone.
- You'll keep the data clean. Reports are only as good as the data behind them. You'll own masters, mappings and migrations, with checks before and after.
- You'll treat AI as a tool, not the boss. You'll use it every day to understand requests, brainstorm options and weigh trade-offs. But the final call is yours. AI will happily build exactly what was asked, even when it's wrong, and its answers are only as good as the data. You'll decide what AI can do, what needs approval, and how client and company data stays safe.
Must Haves
- You have at least 5 years on ERPNext/Frappe projects, including go-lives you led yourself. Real go-lives matter more to us than many years of light configuration.
- You know ERPNext, its modules and other Frappe apps well, and how they fit together.
- You know the Frappe framework inside out: doctypes, custom fields vs. customize form, workflows, roles and user permissions, print formats and reports. More importantly, you know what each one is for, and when not to use it.
- AI is already part of your daily work, and you can show us real examples: a spec, a decision, a report or a process you improved with it.
- You've handled ERPNext/Frappe version upgrades (say, v14 to v15, or v15 to v16) without breaking customizations.
- Your written and spoken English is clear. You can explain trade-offs in simple words and guide people to a better option when their request isn't the right fit.
- You're active on the Frappe forum or GitHub, and you help others there, not just ask questions.
Good to Have
- You've defined SaaS features on Frappe, like subscriptions, billing, multi-tenancy, and APIs.
- You've moved data into Frappe apps from tools like Tally, Zoho, QuickBooks, Xero, Salesforce, Pipedrive or Zendesk.
- You've connected ERPNext with other third-party tools and platforms.
- You hold a Frappe School certificate or ERPNext certification.
- You've contributed to Frappe/ERPNext through PRs, issues, apps, case studies, or blog posts.
