We are looking for a Director of engineering with a proven track record of engineering leadership with a specialization in React technology. 

The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience leading React teams and working closely on decoupled solutions.

In this role, you will design high-quality software solutions, translating business requirements into scalable systems. You’ll also provide technical consultancy to clients, the business team, and the engineering team. Expertise in distributed systems, core JavaScript architecture, and JavaScript frameworks is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Define the company-wide technical vision and strategy for front-end development, mostly using React. 
  2. Lead a team of engineering managers and frontend engineers, providing mentorship and guidance. This includes overseeing company-wide engineering best practices implementation for all client projects and products involving React. Set a long-term strategy to cut down production time (cost) through automation, establishing technical standards, best practices, tools, and platforms.
  3. Oversee the architecture of React applications, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and performant. This includes architecting apps yourselves, as well as being available to review others’ architectures.
  4. Work closely with other engineering leaders, project/product managers, and designers to align front-end development with overall business goals. Work on requirements gathering and estimation during the pre-sales phase, along with demonstrating and consulting business understanding of client domain. 
  5. Stay up-to-date with the latest in React and frontend technologies, and drive innovation within the team.
  6. We believe in contributing back to open source. With that in mind, every implementation plan should have a product mentality. We should aim to make our work reusable and release as much in open source as possible. The team’s open-source contribution will be a major KPI.

Must Haves

  1. 5+ years of experience leading the React Engineers.
  2. Working experience in building decoupled React frontends from start to finish.
  3. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  4. Good understanding of computer science fundamentals and system architecture. 
  5. Experience in writing/blogging/public speaking and open-source community contributions.
  6. Ability to debug and troubleshoot code. Review other code and architecture.

Good to Have

  1. Development experience for any other JS-based Framework and Libraries.
  2. WordPress Gutenberg block development experience.
  3. Prior experience of working on SaaS products. 
  4. Knowledge of mobile App development using React Native.
  5. Mentor or contributor or author of any Open-Source software. 
  6. Knowledge of and experience with DevOps practices.
  7. Prior experience working with remote teams.
