We're seeking a processes and execution-focused Design Director to lead our talented design team and shape the future of our creative direction. You'll be responsible for setting up rtCamp’s design practice. From hiring to implementing best practices to delivery, you will be leading from the front. You will be taking designs from concept to execution, ensuring we deliver high-impact design solutions that elevate rtCamp and clients' brands and achieve their business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic design leadership and vision, ensuring all design projects align with the agency's overall goals and objectives.
- Set processes, systems and SoPs for the design team to achieve the best possible results in a predictable and repeatable manner.
- Liaise with Engineering teams to understand the technical challenges and limitations and to build a design process that gels well with engineering teams.
- Liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders, set clear expectations and prioritize design projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Help educate our clients on design challenges, understand business goals, communicate them clearly internally, and collaborate with development, project management, and account teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest design trends, technologies, and implement best practices.
- Develop and implement design standards and style guides to maintain consistency.
- Conduct client presentations and effectively communicate design concepts and rationale.
- Recruit, interview, and hire top design talent.
Must Haves
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in design leadership roles.
- A readiness to be hands-on and get into the trenches often.
- Or a combination of premier design education and 3+ years of solid design portfolio.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of web design, UI/UX design, and potentially branding experience.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to translate business objectives into compelling design solutions.
- Strong understanding of design principles, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) best practices.
Good to Have
- Experience working in a WordPress/Drupal/Enterprise CMS agency is a plus.
